Alaska - Inside Passage Cruise
- Overview
Inside Passage. Cruise types. Overview.
Inside Passage cruises explore the mysterious waterways around the coastal islands. If a week is the right time for you then this is your cruise! It will start and finish in Seattle or Vancouver. Sailing North they cruise as far north as Skagway and Glacier Bay. Then they turn back to ports such as Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan on the way.
The Inside Passage runs from Skagway to Ketchikan. During the ice age it was entirely under ice which created the extraordinary U shaped valleys, the fjords with sheer sided walls and astounding glaciers which you will see on your cruise. A truly staggering sight is the longest deepest fjord in North America which is next to the peninsula town of Haines.
Glaciers and forests with hemlock and spruce trees are found all over the region. The Inside Passage is famous for clear clean water, fjords, snow capped mountains and the forested islands. Tongass National Forest is a huge million acre rain forest. Stunning wildlife with bald eagles, grizzly bears and salmon in the rivers, tidal beaches and rain forests are all to be discovered as you cruise along the Inside Passage.
